Up & Up

It’s been over a month since my last post and I do apologize, as I usually tell people ‘Life happens‘. I’ve been really busy getting my business up and running, working a lot, and visiting family in Ontario.

Before my trip news; I purchased some really good skates for cheap and have been skating a bit here and there… it’s nice exercise and fun ūüôā .999914_10153703720535022_1710676587_n

My adventure to Ontario started when my first flight was cancelled due to Toronto’s outrageous ¬†-40 weather… everything was pretty much shut down. I scrambled on the phone so that I could get another flight and push my time I had off for work. I decided just to fly into Toronto and then take the Robert Q (really comfy bus) to Windsor, which is usually a 4 hour drive or so. I managed to get a flight the following day (overnight) ¬†and off I went. My travels went pretty well without a hitch. I landed in Ontario took the bus to see family in Windsor. I have to say that the sights really are strange to me now not having been able to see mountains around me.

Windsor is a really strange and interesting place, I was speaking to a friend about it and what we came up with was: Looking into a city/ culture from the outside; I guess I had lived my entire life within this place and never really saw how everyone there lived culturally. I almost had anxiety going out into public… not that I was afraid but more so I felt uncomfortable at the fact that everyone was in such a hurry and so impatient, along with just seeming to only want to help themselves. Living in Windsor I always seen that people were in a hurry and that you almost do have to take care of only yourself. Having travelled and experienced many different environments in the past few years has really opened me to see how important it is to be there for yourself but without being selfish; seeing the majority people in Windsor blasting around and just observing others in public really opened me to see how selfish we can be. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying all people in Ontario/ Windsor are grumpy and miserable, it was just a very common recurrence.

I did manage to see one of my favourite people and long time friend Natalie, we met through wrestling in high school and since both of our schools were french it wasn’t odd our teams saw each other as “team mates”. There was something spunky about this beautiful lady and we’ve been friends since, she’s one of those friends that you can always confide regardless the subject. It’s been a wild ride helping each other over the last few years. The one night I visited her family as we’ve all become rather close over the years, they always keep me on my toes with my french which I enjoy. Little Mich, Nat’s sister I could have sworn was 16 yesterday but is now 20… it’s wild how time fly’s. Since the St John’s have a hot tub naturally we took advantage, it was one of the most enjoyable nights in town sitting with her family talking jokes and catching up.

One of the nights I teamed up with Em’s mom to surprise her… pay back for her surprising me at my fundraiser. It was a bit of a challenge because I wanted to post about my travels online but also didn’t want Emily to realise what was going on… eventually she kept asking questions so I just told her I was flying to New Brunswick to see the country. I think it worked because I walked in the door and Em was wide-eyed and we shared a haven’t seen you in ages hug.¬†It was a fun night drinking wine and reminiscing on past stories and where we want to be in the future. I ended up spending the night since I had a few too many glasses of wine but it all worked out as I got to see a nice sun rise on my way home.

I did get to see a few other friends and had a good time, but it was nice to see my family over dinner, and it was really great that my nephew enjoyed playing with me seeing as I’m rarely around for him to get used to me. He’s one smart little dude already talking about hexagons, octagons when I could barely do that when I was 6! As per usual my mom and I went for a nice meal at this little place called Ashton’s in my home town LaSalle, it’s a really nice spot :).

Jules and I have had our differences in the past, we’ve gone from best friends to probably not even wanting to see a picture of each other ever again. I know I’ve done a lot of growing and regardless of what happened I think we both made mistakes and grew past them. Recently we began talking again and even hung out while I was in town… I have to say I miss joking around with Julia, she’s a great person and even better soul. I always like seeing what she will come up with next, all of her creations… I find brilliant. For one one her most recent shows she was doing 90’s paintings/ sketches on “retired”¬†cupboard doors. I’m excited to continue our friendship good and bad!

Jules makin’ her magic

Coming back from Windsor was a rather great treat, I made it to Toronto from Windsor then from Toronto to Calgary but that’s where the ease disappeared. I was all the way on the plane buckled in and we heard news that the last four flights were re-routed to Vancouver due to fog… so we all disembarked and waited forever in line to be re-scheduled… I was at the back of the plane meaning I was the last one in line, so I just went and sat in a chair till the line died anyway.

I was put up in a rather nice hotel “Acclaim”, there was a sky deck with hot tub… which was occupied by a couple which I decided to leave alone. My room was stunning with a king sized bed tv in the bathroom with a ceiling shower head! I enjoyed it and the hotel restaurant was very nice as well, they are known for their wine and bread. I can’t remember the name of the wine a tried but it was yummy; half a glass had me feeling good. The rest of the night I watched movies from my king sized bed. The breakfast was great and because I was put up for the night I was given food vouchers, so yay free food.

1511136_10153737911285022_1042908215_n

The next day I get my ticket and find out I’m on a waiting list; off to Tim Hortons for more free food… I had to spend one of the $10 vouchers all at once so I splurged on bagel’s, yogurt, and some hot chocolate with chai tea. They started making announcement asking for people willing to give up their spots, I realised I wasn’t getting on this flight and went and got my next flight booked and compensated handsomely I might add. The lady at the counter said I was smart to come up then. I was put up in another hotel which was… okay, the Sandman was not nearly as nice as the Acclaim but I did still get a King sized room. The restaurant attached to this hotel was Moxies, I had all three meals of the day on vouchers. Since I wasn’t going to be there for lunch and was going to have breakfast at the airport I combined them for supper… that means $32 for some yummy food! Moxies unfortunately didn’t have much of a vegetarian selection but I made do.

My lonesome bag

My lonesome bag

One thing I saw a lot of was “global news”¬†and to be honest it was a little sickening to see what they were reporting on, some things were kind of serious and others were outrageously dumb. I like to keep up to date on what’s happening in the world but the news I saw on TV seems so narrow and hides a lot. I pride myself on multi sighting pages that I read to get accurate information. One thing I learned in the past little while, it’s find the facts and become aware of what’s happening in your¬†World. War, climate change, industrialising, humanitarian issues… none of that stuff realistically has borders, we breathe the same air look at the same sky. The only thing I would pass on to everyone this blog is to be aware. I read a question online recently: ‘If you could get rid of one thing in the world what would it be?‘ I read a lot of good answers most of which were “money” and I happily agreed, but I came across one answer that I think we should be agreeing with and it’s¬†Ignorance.¬†I think our biggest down fall is our ignorance… our lack of knowledge. Don’t let yourself be a fool, learn and investigate.

When I left BC I didn’t get to see the mountains flying out since it was night-time but I did get to see them coming back and it was amazing! These huge peaks become nothing but little hills that go on as far as the eye can see… I was in awe most of the time and could do nothing but appreciate it. I actually spent most of the flight just watching them go by.

Departure day had finally arrived without a hitch I made it back to Kelowna thankfully it wasn’t super foggy again. I had called Brent to pick me up and when I saw him I was in a bit of shock as he had shaved his long beard… now I know what kind of shock I put everyone through ūüėõ .

So far not much has gone on since I’ve returned home, just getting back into the swing of working and building my business. I will have a guest blog coming up in the next few days so keep your head up for a new post.

If you’re interested in posting your own little blurb feel free to click the Guest Post tab on the left menu bar.

**Oh yeah… I have yet to set off a scanner at the airport, I don’t see why people always run into issues. Tip just take the extra 30 seconds to check your pockets and take everything off and put it in the bin!

Thoughts Gliding

I hope everyone has had nice Holidays so far, I guess I’ve been pretty busy between work and having a expanding social life… always a good thing. I’m going to go through some of the past events and then try to go through some of my thoughts about… just things.

I’ve managed to nab some awesome deals recently which is really cool, I finally got my¬†free¬†tablet from TD that they owed me for a while… it just took some nagging to the correct people to get things fixed. I’m very pleased with it as I don’t have to keep running to my computer to write emails or check out videos. I still don’t think I’d ever go purchase a tablet but it is an awesome free addition!

The next great deal I came across was an amazing recliner from The Brick,¬†this awesome reclining¬†theatre type seating was in the clearance section and was still on the high end of my budget for getting rid of my futon. I returned about a week and half later knowing that if it wasn’t there it just wasn’t meant to be. As I was walking to the clearance section a lot of the furniture had been moved but I kept going and when I arrived the couch had been turned around so I hadn’t noticed it. When I took another look… the price had dropped a few hundred dollars! Right there I said ‘I’ll take it’, and off I went with a $1500+ couch for… $200!

I have decided I want to begin collecting Beatles albums (vinyl), mainly starting with the¬†Apple Records¬†albums. My goals is to pick up at least one a month which isn’t too bad considering I can find them for 15 – 30 dollars each. There is one album that I plan on scouting for a mint copy… that’s the¬†“White Album”¬†. I’ve been listening to the¬†“Blue Album” for a couple of weeks now, I love the sound of vinyl there’s not much like it.

As stated before I hope everyone’s Holidays have been good, great, or amazing. As much as I consider Xmas just another day on the calendar I tend to be drawn into dinners and parties… I’m definitely not complaining about it… it’s good to know there are people with huge hearts out there. I did get some Christmas cards which was kind of cool… I’ve never really received any before despite living on my own in the past. I ordered some for a few people because I didn’t really get a chance to get all creative and make my own… unfortunately they are late and I have yet to receive them/ send them.

My work… well my colleagues and I decided to throw a party for the holidays and let loose. It was a pretty great night with finger foods, good laughs… oh yeah and a full-sized beer pong table which made for a fun night for sure! I’m not going to lie my head did hurt a lot the next day despite how much water I drank. I don’t normally drink alcohol, it doesn’t really have the lustre is did when I was in college… even then I didn’t drink as often as my friends had.

Dec30 blog-2

For Christmas one of my friends Maria invited me over for Xmas dinner with her boyfriend and his kids. Maria so kindly accommodated my vegetarian diet which she has been helping me with for great recipes since the beginning. It was a really fun night of Yatze and there was even a dance show done by the girls! Even if I hadn’t been invited by Maria, Brent and Ryan my¬†Hostel Mate¬†neighbours¬†invited me to their family dinner since they know my family is back in Ontario and they already had their big Xmas on the East Coast. It’s nice to know that there’s great people out there.

Just when I though I was catching up on bills and such, in abundance I had to get my car inspected to pass for BC plating… I now have to do a bunch of work to my car which is going to cost me a couple hundred bucks and… make her ugly ūüė¶ ; I have to take off the tint on the windows as it’s illegal in BC and change the lights on the front and back because they are both the incorrect colour? Oh well such is life so I will do what I can myself and get er’ passed.

It has been an interesting past few weeks as things in my life seem to be settling… which to me is good and¬†unsettling for me. I’m usually in constant movement; it’s exciting for me as I am creating new adventures all the time learning new and exciting things about the world, people and most of all my self. I continue to try to get my business on track and stay on top of my game at work.

Some days I find myself waking up and just wondering where I am in life, where I’m headed and what my next adventure will be. To see how far I’ve brought myself is exciting knowing the successes I’ve obtained and the lessons that were learned through mistakes and gut feelings. I find myself constantly surrounded by music and different types everyday, it’s a nice escape from the constant day in and out of work.

I’m really happy where I am now and things are slowly on the move in the direction I’ve been striving for, yet I’m still at a loss for words to convey how I feel submersed in my music. As I sit here writing contemplating my writing, smiling in-between pauses.

There’s ups n’ Down’s

This blog post is well over due and I apologize, there’s been good bad and great happening and a little bit of laziness to be honest. This will probably be a lengthy post as there’s a lot to catch up on… or I may just blast through a few things.

Cold creeping down the mountain

Cold creeping down the mountain

Let’s start with a few weeks ago I signed my lease agreement for my business to solidify thing for February now I’m just waiting for some financial stuff to come through once I apply for it.

Innerpaths_Bcard_Back

One of my hostel mates has a cute kitty named Panda I’m sure I’ve spoken of her before, but she’s pretty much welcome everywhere at the Hostel¬†and she goes pretty much anywhere she desires. Panda’s an amazing cat and is very loving and I feel bad sometimes when she’s outside because it’s getting cold… she does adore being outside though. My buddy does bring her in every night so it’s not like she’s stuck out there. Anyway where I was going with all of this is I let her in my place a week ago and she always just looks around for a bit rolls around for some attention and then kind of takes off. Since it’s been getting cold she likes to just hang out by the window now and just scan the yard behind my place. The other night when I let her in she came and cuddled on my couch and took a nice couple hour nap in my cozy warm place and it was super cute to say the least.

One of the Rogers/ Fido reps. from my work had set a goal ¬†for our store to meet and promised us a dinner and we of course met this goal so we were treated to a nice dinner… On Rogers ;). I had some awesome jambalaya that I scarfed down… elegantly; this place was also kind of upscale so obviously the food was scrumptious.

Big surprise… I cut off my hair and beard! Why? Some of you may ask well it was starting to get hard/ a pain to maintain and if I took a bath at night I had to wait for my hair to dry or it would be all crazy the next morning. Oh yeah and I was kind of missing my short hair and stubble. I actually let a girl that I was on a date with do it, it’s not like there was any real way to mess it up I was just chopping it all off… or buzzing it since we were using my clippers. She asked if she could cut the back with scissors and I said ‘sure why not‘. I have to say that it was a really weird sensation of the scissors cutting through the hair… it kind of gave me chills.

selfi MS-1 Self_shaved-1

I fooled around with my long hair at different stages while cutting it, t’was was pretty funny but once there was just the mustache and long hair… it grossed me out… so much for Movember. Ultimately I’m very happy with my decisions other than my face and head being cold outside, I like it. Most people didn’t recognize me anymore, the people I worked with just stared for a bit and were thrown off even my hostel mates were blown away… I went from a¬†Jesus look to clean-cut¬†I don’t know what you’d call it look. I actually had a hard time seeing myself in the mirror it was totally weird.

So my book, the much awaited book… No it’s not done yet and I’ve once again kind of fallen off of the writing curve mainly because I’ve been so tired lately from lots of working. I did speak to a publishing group called Friesen Press¬†and I may go with them for publishing and sales as it could bring in some royalties and it would be good to have especially if I decided to write more books. They are little bit costly but through much research, the most reliable and the best potential to make some coin back… unfortunately we are looking at a book release maybe in the summer instead of Christmas; sorry for the let down!

So much typing

I finally picked up a new phone as my old one has had a cracked screen for several months and was starting to eat the dust. I picked up a Nexus 5 one of the fastest phone’s… actually it is the fastest phone I’ve ever had and it’s one of the top phones on the market today. I’ve run into a few issues with my carrier about misinformation on my plans and Tab etc… but I’m waiting for a resolution before I leave any reviews on them. *update* They contacted me and fixed the issue that they created… but we’ll see how the next bill shows up.

Nex_wite-1

I managed to pick up a TV so that I can play my PS3 which I’ve been itching to play for a while… It was a steal $150 for a 52″ DLP HDTV, it works perfect! I did have to drive with it hanging out of my trunk from Lumby (45 mins away)¬†and then get someone to help me bring it up into my place… It’s huge to say the least but all the other TV’s were so much more expensive and for a quarter of what I currently have, so it was so worth it… I watched “Ocean Predators” last night and it looked so awesome; I also fell asleep just goes to show how tired I am.

IMG_20131116_160538

So what’s currently going on in my life..? A lot more than usual I’ve started seeing a girl… wait maybe that’s why I’m so tired, from texting her all night hmm girls…. they complicate everything but so far she is so worth it. The other day my cell phone invoice was very very wrong and it really upset me as I’ve been putting myself on a strict budget so that I can run my business on time. Luckily Mariam was able to help me vent a bit and my day slowly got better. The other day we made dinner together which was a lot of fun, steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was such a good dinner… the mashed potatoes were interesting to make as I was short on salt so we just threw more cheese in them and it was still not right. I went and borrow some more salt from one of my¬†Hostel Mates¬†and we dumped a ton in there… there was a lot of potatoes (I’m still eating them) but that was honestly what was missing… the salt!

Life’s full of its ups and downs and I’ve experienced many downs this past week which really surprised a lot of people (I’m always smiling apparently) but I had to remind myself don’t forget to smile”¬† and it made things a little better. Keep an eye out for the people who care for you, they will always be there to help you out when you really need it. Treat these people like they are special and they will return the favour.

Keep an eye out for my daily posts about 21 habits of happy people on my Inner Paths Facebook page.

NAMASTE

To Those We Love

First off today is a major me day, I’ve been working hard from work to schooling and even language training.¬†

I feel great as I have a fantastic job and work with great people and just the individuals around me have been so lovely.

In my last post I said I would kind of explain about the “failed connection” I guess you could call it. Things did seem pretty great for a while but the entire time there was something not there, something that tugged at me that I couldn’t quite grasp at despite things seeming to be great… I felt it but chose to ignore it because it was so miniscule. One day we were chatting and maybe I said the wrong thing and suddenly we were “on different pages”; I have to say I was pretty torn up that morning after the dissolution of the friendship. I worked on the things that were making me happy in life and my day really turned around. I stepped back to what I’ve always told myself “never regret a thing in life“. Even when you do dumb things or have a terrible break up like I had 2 years ago, you have to be happy for the times you had; the good and even more so the bad. Look at it this way: if you never went through hurt, paint, or heart-break would you really be the person you are today? I think not. Anyway that’s kind of what happened and I’m glad for the small moments of joy I had.

Enough of this girly talk; I’ve been growing my beard for 2 months now and it’s getting pretty thick as it once was in Haiti, the only difference is it’s getting cold where I’m living now and my face is nice and warm! At work I’ve had many people come by just to tell me I have an awesome beard, or ‘many people can’t pull off a¬†good¬†beard but you sir can!“. It’s really cool to have people come by and compliment it… honestly I’m just growing my beard for me not to impress people but hey I’ll take it, keep the compliments coming ūüėČ good genetics I guess!

In late October I sold 4 phones at work in one day and made a hefty commission from it which is great for me… puts me on track for comfortable living. I’ve been getting compliments from “upper managementfor my accomplishments as a newbie which is super cool, but I keep telling everyone ‘honestly I’m just doing my job“. Oh Nov 1st I kicked off the month with selling another 4 phones putting our store at 7 and #1 in BC East for the start of the month. I also keep getting told by my customers I have a very mellow/ calm demeanour and that they like that… none¬†threatening¬†pressure.

I’ve had a great workout sitting on my computer for over a year now and haven’t really gotten around to setting up a schedule to use it… well I finally sat down and spent at least an hour setting up my workout routine. The whole process will be over six to eight months but it’s finally started and I’m super pumped to get my beach bod! (that last statement really made me chuckle)

Still Working on Form

Still Working on Form

Some other things I’ve been up to lately me having enrolled in psychology classes online (free) that offers a diploma but it isn’t accredited… fine with me I’ll still hang the diploma. On top of that I’ve been listening to psych lectures from Yale which happen to be very fun for me to listen to. I have to say that I actually already knew a lot that is being taught on those lectures; in a sense it’s very reassuring that I find Yale lectures “easy to listen to”. Some other learning I’ve been doing but kind of slowed down on it since I’ve taken up so many other things and work 5 days a week is learning new languages. I have Rosetta Stone on my computer and I have taken up Arabic. I think it would be a neat language to learn… I mean I grew up with so many Lebanese people and always wished I knew what they were saying… I have also set out a goal to know at least 7 languages in the next 5 years and I’m already at 3.

So Halloween just went by and maybe some of you went out with your kids or by yourself, and some of you may have handed out candy… ready for a surprise I actually went out “clubbing”, yeah I know it’s def. not my scene but I was convinced to go out and have a night for myself and I’m glad I did. The night was filled with good company and well mediocre to good music haha.

I didn’t get a chance to record a Vlog this week but I’ll try to get one posted in the next few days if not tonight.¬†

So at the beginning of the blog I talked about how today was a ME day; last night was the first night I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night in over 3 months… maybe it had to do with me being really tired or the fact I was talking to a pretty great person last night… I’m going to stick with the latter. This morning I was blessed with a photo of¬†my girls from Haiti… my heart bled because I miss them so much. As I reminisced on the old photo’s and the newest one with their huge smiles I couldn’t help but cry. I was getting ready to write my blog as I waited for my bath to cool down but I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I had to lay on my bed and take it in… I love the kids so much and they will always hold a piece of my heart <3.

What Is Prayer? – Guest Post

What Is Prayer?

All prayer ‚Äď no matter what the religion ‚Äď has a certain power, but some techniques are more powerful than others. The easy-to-learn technique of dynamic prayer devised and taught by Dr. George King is based on yogic principles, including the chakras, visualization and the correct use of spiritual energy, which make it highly effective.

In his commentary on the second of The Nine Freedoms, Dr. King explains prayer as follows:

Throughout the centuries healings, which some people have described as miracles, have been brought about through the correct use of prayer.

Now, what is prayer? Prayer is a way to transmit¬†energy¬†from point A ‚Äď the prayer [i.e. the person praying], to point B ‚Äď the person who needs that prayer. The prayer energy is carried safely to its destination by the power of Love. The spiritual energy which is sent from the prayer [i.e. the person praying] to the recipient was referred to by the ancient yogis as, ‚Äúprana‚ÄĚ or ‚Äúthe universal life force‚ÄĚ. But the carrier of that energy is Love‚Ķ

The explanation below is adapted for this website from the book Prayer Energy:

Prayer is a way of channelling and transmitting energy. It can bring joy, inspiration, healing, peace, exhilaration ‚Äď and even bliss.

Dynamic prayer is…

  • ¬†not a dull duty or a meaningless chore, but a vibrant, living power.
  • ¬†not the deluded hope of someone crying out in desperation, but the practical solution to many problems.
  • ¬†not an act of fear or false piety, but one of courage and true love.

If prayer were understood and practiced every day by more people, not only would those people’s lives change, but the whole world would change. Why? Because prayer works. And once the nature of prayer becomes clear and we begin to understand how it works, the confusion and doubt that all too often haunt the would-be prayerful believer are gone.

The energy known as¬†prana¬†‚Äď universal life force

Everything in creation is manifested through energy. In Indian philosophy this energy is known as¬†prana. In China, it is referred to as¬†qi¬†(or¬†ch‚Äôi), in Japan as¬†ki. It is akin to the Greek concept of¬†pneuma¬†and the Melanesian¬†mana. The name is not important, though. What is important is what it is and what it does. It can be aptly described as the ‚Äúuniversal life force‚ÄĚ because that is exactly what it is ‚Äď the force of life, which exists throughout the universe. It is life itself. And even more remarkable than this, we can all invoke and use this energy simply by the power of thought.

When we want something the desire makes us magnets for energy. We use our minds, consciously or unconsciously, to direct this to bring about a certain result. This is the power of creative visualisation, or intention, but it is not real prayer.

Real prayer is not a device for trying to get whatever we want. It is an expression of love. To pray properly we must unchain the shackles of selfishness from our hearts and condition the energy we invoke with the power oflove. Think of love as the vehicle in which the energy travels to its destination. As the great yogi Swami Vivekananda put it: ‚ÄúThe moment you have succeeded in manufacturing love out of¬†prana, you are free.‚ÄĚ

The efficacy of prayer

The efficacy of¬†prayer is not dependent on the whim or favoritism of a mythical overlord, whom some mistake for the great¬†Divine Source. On the contrary, it is exact in the way that a science is exact. In fact, it is a science ‚Äď albeit one of which few scientists seem to have much understanding. It is a scientific formula for sending energy, conditioned by love, from the person praying to the focal point of the prayer. How well a prayer works basically depends on:

  • How much energy we invoke and send out.
  • How well this energy is conditioned by love.
  • The karma of the situation or person you are praying for.

Dispelling doubts about prayer

Viewed in this light there is no need to be haunted by the specter of doubt when our prayers don‚Äôt seem to be answered. Prayer is a natural power ‚Äď not a superstition. Comments such as, ‚ÄúI prayed for world peace for five minutes last night and yet war is still going on, therefore God does not exist‚ÄĚ are absurdly superficial. To bring about world peace would require a colossal amount of spiritual energy. In fact, miraculous though it sounds, with the right quantity and quality of spiritual energy the world could be utterly transformed. Dr. King taught that the only real energy crisis on Earth is the spiritual energy crisis, and that until this is put right humankind will always suffer from shortages of more basic forms of energy. Prayer is undoubtedly one of the best ways to help solve this crisis.

Change your life through prayer

It matters little what you call the Divine Source, be it God, Brahma, Allah, Jehovah, Great White Spirit, The Way, Heaven, or anything else. The love in your heart is infinitely more important that the creed in your mind. Prayer is not for the chosen few; it is for everyone. It is the birthright of people of all faiths ‚Äď and even of none ‚Äď to experience the benefits that dynamic prayer can bring.

We can all help to improve the world and our own lives, this very moment, by being a channel for the limitless energy of love, whether this be manifested in thought, word, deed ‚Äď or prayer.

And you won’t know how good this really is until you try it!

Dynamic prayer is a wonderful expression, it is a song of the¬†soul¬†and the soul wants to sing, it wants to express light all around itself, it wants to go forward and help and raise others who need the transmuting power output of a joyous soul. You must allow your inner soul to do this; you must allow this beautiful manifestation to take place, this great surge of energy to fill your mind and¬†aura¬†to such an extent that the bread you cast upon the waters is indeed plentiful and beneficial to all. And the more effort you expend in this respect, the more sure the result must be. This is the law. If you want an impossible thing it is this: you cannot send out dynamic prayers for mankind without having certain results ‚Äď it is impossible, it cannot be done, the results must come, sooner or later they must come! God, if I could only get this mighty Truth over to the lazy people on this planet, we would have three and a half billion prayers, this very morning and before this afternoon, the world would be changed completely!

So, be not deluded by that allegedly logical part of yourself, your¬†conscious mind¬†‚Äď but do let your soul sing. It can be taken over by the higher part of you and the change will be such as to amaze you; and once you have mentally tasted this you will not want to slip back again. Be all of you thus warned: I have spoken in the light of considerable experience. Heed it, for your sakes, and for the world‚Äôs.

Dr. George King

Blessed Times

The last week has been pretty amazing, especially the other day everything just seemed to fall into place.

Silverstar Day-4

First on the list of things, my landlord is back in town and winterizing the whole property including my Tree House;¬†that means it will be nice and toasty in here when I do turn the heater on during snow season. I’m pretty fortunate that I really only have to turn on the heater every so often since the¬†Tree House¬†holds heat rather well. ¬†Patrick and I had some good conversations and I expressed how amazing this place is and that he should count on receiving steady rent checks from me.

I had a few days off that were pretty relaxing, I forgot how fun days off are when you actually work… it kind of gives you something to look forward to after a few days of pushing yourself to do great!

Fog over Vernon

Fog over Vernon

During one of the days off I managed to nab myself a set of Encyclopedia’s… for free! They look fantastic and the owner was just going to bring them to the dump, I’m pretty happy with them so far. Going to get these books was pretty much what started my adventures up Silver Star road; the fog has been pretty heavy as the weather is slowly converting to Winter and I had to jump on the opportunity to take pictures (see photo above for reference).

These were free!

These were free!

I’m sure there was a lot more things that were some what eventful but yesterday just trumped it all. I’d have to say it was just one great thing after another… Also I didn’t write much on my blackboard this week.

The day started off by waking up to a video of the girl I’ve been talking to, which we’ve been connecting really well (I’ll explain kind of what happened in my next blog). I was a bit worried that I was to be another victim of Catfishing.

“A¬†catfish¬†is someone who pretends to be someone they’re not using Dating sites or other social media to create false identities, particularly to pursue deceptive online romances”.

I won’t get into the boring details but it has happened to me before so naturally I was cautious… but I digress. The morning was nothing but smiles, it’s hard to explain the emotion… I was relieved and happy to say the least, maybe a bit giddy.. go ahead laugh ;). Following that I had a nice breakfast then headed up Silver Star Rd for some pictures.

Silverstar Day-1 Silverstar Day-2

Silverstar Day-6 Silverstar Day-9

I stopped at a little subdivision that was on a hill that looked over the city but the fog was a lot stronger than I had previously experience a few days prior… it made for more challenging photo’s and it was a bit chilly out, but I made do with what I had.

Silverstar Day-7 Silverstar Day-8 Silverstar Day-3

I had taken some pretty impressive photo’s, they impressed me anyway! I decided to head further up the mountain to see what I could get for a different vantage point and that’s when I decided to do a time-lapse for you. The intention was to show everyone have neat the fog looked, as I kept driving I cleared the fog and the sky was blue without a single cloud. What a surprise it was the higher I went, keep in mind I’ve never actually gone to the top to Silver Star Resort.

I had finally made it to the top where the Resort is and what a strange and cool little city it is up there, the houses look like something out of a movie and in the Winter it will probably look like the North Pole with elves running around… you’ll have to follow the blog to find out! I pulled up and there were huge mountain in the distance with massive peaks and snow on them. I left everything in my car but my camera and went for a nice little walk.

Silverstar Day-10

After I did some rummaging through some bushes and paths I found a nice peaceful area that the mountains just blew open, it was nothing short of breathtaking. I found a comfy spot and decided to shoot a V-log (Video Blog). This is a new experiment and I think it’s kind of fun so let me know what you think… and don’t forget to share! Oh yeah it was like another world above the fog/ clouds… I could have worn a T-shirt and shorts it was so warm.

Silverstar Day-11 Silverstar Day-12 Silverstar Day-13

After spending some quality time in Nature and just listening to the sounds of the wind and the mountains it was time to head home. It would have been really cool to have filmed my way down but my camera battery was dying… fail on my part for not charging it earlier. Heading down the mountain I stopped once or twice to pull off some great photo’s hoping my camera wouldn’t die. As I descended I had my windows open, wind breezing and a giant smile. As I continued downward I actually had to shut the windows because the temperature drop through the fog and under the clouds was astonishing… like I said a whole other world.

Silverstar Day-14 Silverstar Day-16 Silverstar Day-17

I got home and spoke to my friend Satyama who does massage therapy, it was also her 40th Birthday and she looks great for 40. We talked about me getting a massage since my back was still sore from the 3 months of futon sleeping, she said let’s do it now; I procured some money and went for my therapy session. Satyama has done a lot of learning from around the world (Eastern Culture) and does Chakra clearing as well during the massage; I have to tell you I have never had such an amazing massage in my life!

Silverstar Day-5

Thanks for checking in again and let me know what you think of the V-logs. Don’t forget I’m opening up guest posting and to shoot me an email, the info is on the side bar at the top.

There’s a Time for Everything

I’ve been itching to write this blog post for a few days but one thing after another has happened, in a good way :). I’ve smartened up a bit and started to write everything down on one of my dry erase boards so I can remember more content for you guys to catch up on.

Oct15 blog-5

Isn’t the green and black awesome?

On and off I think about this one question when ever I think about my blog… ‘do I really want people to read about my entire life?’¬†When it comes down to it I guess I now look at it more of an outlook of expression; I don’t expect people to read my blog but if they do awesome, if they learn something even better… if no one reads it I just get to re-experience what I did earlier in the week or month and even one day dwell back on it. I kind of look at it in a sense where if you’re grieving or dealing with “drama”¬†expressing it to a friend or trusted person helps (immensely), stress drops and you feel that little bit better and sometimes feel completely better. If negatives can shed away through expressing, the good might just remind you of the good times and just make you that much happier.

I’ve been discussing with a few friends recently that I don’t regret anything I’ve done… even the dumb stuff for if I hadn’t done it I wouldn’t be in the exact place I am today, the consequences (good or bad) have made me who I am today. Think of it this way: you can’t go back and change anything, just go from where you are… This is such a clich√© term but it stuck for a reason “Live in the now”.

Now for the updates:

I purchased some perogies which I haven’t had in ages and that I love so much and they remind me of an amazing friend (Natalie… Miss you!). Here’s the dilemma I was facing though. I didn’t have sour cream, actually let’s back up a second I actually wanted to make pancakes but had no milk and didn’t want to go to the store so I said ‘hey I have perogies!’ and that’s where I ran into the sour cream issue. I was so hungry and was too lazy to go to the groceries store but I used the excuse I needed to save gas haha. I got my thinking cap out and figured let’s try Dijon Mustard, well it worked despite being a little spicy it was worth the substitute until I got SC the next day.¬†(apparently my browser says¬†perogies¬†is spelt wrong but the package says that’s the correct way, and not as the computer suggests “perigees”…¬†*right-click, add to dictionary*¬†haha)

Here’s some big new… I finally got the job at¬†The Mobile Shop¬†woohoo. Training has been going well apparently I learn quickly although I did used to work for WIND Mobile just not for sales. The people I work with are pretty darn awesome and the hours are good, so’s the commission. Soh¬†if anyone is looking for a new phone anywhere in Canada let me know I’ll hook you up with the right deal and plan; bonus you supply me with commission and make me happy.

I recently registered my business website with an official link instead of just a sub-domain so now I’m “official” (www.innerpaths.ca). Once I bring in some more cash from work and pay off some bills I’ll be registering my blog as well maybe along the lines of http://www.WalkofLife.ca … thoughts?

One of my Hostel-mates asked if I could help him clear up some space on his Macbook and make it run faster, so it lit a fire under my butt to do some cleaning on my own and I was able to clear wait for it… 200 Gigs of duplicate songs; Holy moly. I guess that’s 4 years of accumulated songs, now I have so much more room for movies and music. As for Brent’s Mac he has to upgrade his OS (operating system) before I can fix anything in-depth, he’s running a very old version, for all you Window’s users it’s like he’s using Windows XP that hasn’t been cleaned in years.

The other night John and Tabitha (former Hostel-Mates) stopped by for a bonfire with Rye and Brent and myself… it was a good gathering as usual we got a little rowdy but nothing too out of control of course. It’s good to have these little reunions, it’s really brings back memories.

Recently I was able to Skype with two awesome people one of them being Maeve my fav. Irish celeb from Haiti, boy do I miss her and her antics it was nice to catch up with a good friend and talk about our futures (remember when you tried to shove a Teddy in my arms while I was sleep and take a picture… not impressed ¬†-_- love ya ). The other person was Lola who is one of my most favouritest people in the world. There’s just something about my gipsy friend I love so much, she’s so bubbly and awesome. We’ve kinda of decided that our Skype “dates” need to happen more often.

Lola you are one amazing Human being… Keep it up ‚̧

She introduced me to Festivals and I cannot thank her enough for the adventurous path I’ve been set on since.

¬†This past weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving which I spent “alone” this year, which is fine since most holidays to me I just consider another day on the calendar. As usual my neighbours Brent and Rye manage to be awesome and gave me a bunch of their great dinner of: Turkey, stuffing, carrots, yams, cranberries etc… I don’t have a microwave which is good, it keeps me from buying those microwave dinners of death. I tossed the leftovers into a frying pan with butter and a cover, turned the stove on low heat and within a few minutes¬†Voila I had a warmed up meal!

A good friend of mine held on to a wicked cool crystal I ordered while I was in Haiti. I got it back recently and couldn’t think of a better person to have held it for me (thanks Christina ūüėČ ). Originally it was on a bracelet she had made me but it wasn’t really practical (I was the one who asked to have it on the bracelet), so I kept the bracelet which is rad by the way. Dayton one of my Hostel-mates does wire wrapping and I had him wrap it, and it came out pretty cool… thanks Dayton.

Green Kyanite

So the other day I had to wake up early for work and what did I see on the grass… FROST! I am so not looking forward to the cold, don’t forget I spent the winter in Haiti last year and this cold is really killin’ me haha. Later in the day I had collected some chestnuts from the yard since our massive tree drops at least 20 a day, later I decided to try and roast a few… Well they didn’t taste very good. Maybe I didn’t roast them right but I followed all the instructions and video’s online and it looked correct, oh well I guess my pallet isn’t compatible. (oh yeah one exploded in the oven because I didn’t X it big enough)

Oct15 blog-2

They do make a good centre piece though ^_^

Almost done this blog I swear thanks for the patients. I think this is some of the biggest news other than the job… I got a bed, a real one yes!¬†I’ve been sleeping on a futon for 3 months with an already bad back from the army and two car accidents (not at fault). It is like heaven, I honestly rolled around on it giggling for a good ten minutes… Life is grand :).

Oct15 blog-1

My back “I love you bed”

¬†Overall life is fantastic as I just stated, things are going great and I can’t help but yell how happy I am most days… in the confines of my Studio Suite or my car. Oh yeah I’ve also started talking to a girl no details yet because it’s not super serious but it’s looking good.

I took a bit of a break from writing this post to hang out with the Hostel-mates¬†¬†and sure enough Brent offers me some leftover stew from Thanksgiving (Their pot was massive and filled). I brought a bunch home and some of it was my snack tonight. As a few of us were chatting earlier I also noticed how thankful I was for things and people in the blog today… ¬†maybe I just caught everyone’s thankfulness from Facebook or just from the season, but Thanks every everyone for being a part of my life it’s really made who I am one way or another.

They had 3 times as much as this.

It’s a small world but have you seen it all?” (go out¬†adventure¬†love life! it’s waiting for you)

Sights of the World

The last week or so I had been anxiously waiting for a pay cheque that was way overdue, well it finally came in and everything was covered. At first I thought I may be short on getting gas or an oil change but I ended up with more money than I expected ūüôā . Because Brent has a friend that does mechanic work I may only have to pay for a 6 pack of beer it’s funny how things work out when you need them.

My Stick Family Sticker

My Stick Family Sticker

Things have been quiet for the most part I was really looking for a milestone to post about on this blog and I think I have one other than telling you how I’m still looking for work all the time. I went to my friend Horse Farm that she works at. The night before we did work at the farm I stayed at her place and we made a nice dinner and watched some movies. I love the bed there,¬†it’s super comfortable and one of the ones where you can adjust the softness or hardness; finally a good night sleep for my back! This is the second time I’ve gone over for a great night sleep and I’ve noticed and 2 day residual effect from getting a good night sleep (still saving for a real mattress instead of sleeping on a futon).

The following morning we went out to work with the horses which was fun, not as much got finished as we had hoped but some work did get done, as well I did get to do some riding. Arianna did some bridle-less riding and we also made some training/ instructional video’s for her up and coming website.

This guy in the picture below is 32, awesome horse super fury and kind… he gets to roam free since this gentle spirit has paid his dues… but I had to chase him down later , sometimes he likes to wander down the road to the neighbour’s house and munch on their grass (I guess the grass is greener on the other side of the fence).

The sights are unreal around the horse farm, our day was cut short a bit because of the rain but it made for some awesome pictures. I was using a digital camera which was kind of weird for me, I’m so used to SLR’s but I think I did decent with the pictures enjoy!

I’ve been doing revisions for my business and I’m aiming for the new year to start-up¬†(late January) fingers crosses all works out. I have a lease agreement that I can look over the next few months until the old tenants are out. I was suggested to make some gift certificates and sell them for Xmas before I open, I think it’s an awesome idea I just need to be closer to the open date because I don’t want to have to offer refunds if I don’t open on the expected date but keep an eye out!

I’ve met a few new people over the past week or 2 and it’s nice to finally make your own connections, finding people who are similar to you (me) and that’s sometimes hard as I am, I have to admit a strange and unique character.

Sorry there’s not much content this post I’ll try to do some wild things soon for you to have some cool stuff to read… worse case scenario I’ll take a bunch of cool pictures and post them for you ūüėČ

Things n’ How They Happen, enjoy life and let it lead you to your destiny.

Maintained

The past two weeks have been up and down to say the least. I lost most of my motivation to blog the past little while, whether it was from just being tired or busy.

Some days I’m extremely busy and can barely find a moment to do anything and other days I don’t know what to do with myself.

My Home <3

My Home ‚̧

It’s been a tough time lately as I’m practically scraping pennies out of my pocket to pay for things, but I keep my head up and work with what I have. Earlier this week my shelves and fridge were bare other than some bread milk and cheese. I have to admit I was a little scared about buying food and just surviving.

The reason I’ve been so tight on cash is the company I’ve been working for “can’t” advance my pay until the following pay because I made a mistake on my banking info. Despite it being my error I did resolve it but the employer is still saying I have to wait until the 30th to be paid (2 weeks after I was supposed to be!). I have to say at first I was pretty frustrated with this as I needed the money, the person I was corresponding with did everything in her power but she’s not head office. I ended up doing some research and found out that it’s actually illegal to withhold pay directly or indirectly 8 days after the end of a pay period. I made my contact aware of this but didn’t want to escalate anything.

So if you’re wondering ‘how are you eating and staying healthy?’ For one I’m buying things at the bulk barn which is saving me money and is actually pretty healthy. I’ve also had some great people around me from my mom to my Hostel neighbour-mates. I try to stay positive even though things are tough… you kind of have to. Its been almost a surprise everyday of generosity, someone invites me over for dinner or offers me leftovers, or just straight up gives me stuff out of their cupboard just out of their good heart.

Thanks to awesome friends

It’s starting to get much colder out and I haven’t felt¬†COLD¬†in almost a year seeing as I spent pretty much the whole Winter in Haiti… oh do I ever miss it and the kids <3.

Our outdoor theater has been moved/ taken down due to the cold as well the nights are getting very chilly so we’ve moved back to the driveway hang out or just go into someone living space since it’s nice and warm :).

Speaking of warm I finally turned on my heater because this cold nonsense is not my cup o’ tea.

Our new neighbour apologizing for not making it to one of the theatre nights ‚̧ such awesome people here

This past weekend I was invited to¬†Fandango¬†which is like a mini festival gathering that later turns into a “dance party”. Earlier in the day around 3pm there was what I believe is called an Earth Dance, this is where everyone in the world had set a day just to dance universally share the love and compassion of the world. The few of us who intended on going to it didn’t make it that early ūüė¶ but we did happen to make it to the Pot Luck around 6 which was super yummy and 99% of the stuff was natural and healthy… I don’t think I even saw pop or chips.

The night at Fandango was fantastic I met so many amazing people who touched my heart to meet and hope to continue to grow with them all.

So overall everything is tough but manageable and on the right track… I’m getting there slowly! But still getting there ^_^. Oh yeah I had these Bison sausages the other night they were so¬†good… I suggest you try them sometime.

My hostel mates and I still hang out a lot during the day when we are free and continue to be creative through song, creating events as well as painting and many other endeavours. I have to say I’ve got a pretty darn great group here. I’m keeping in my prayers I can stay here for a long time and make rent easier by starting a job soon. (Prayers and positive thoughts please… not just for me but everyone facing tough times… and even those who aren’t)

From Maria… melts my heart

I feel like I had a lot more to post but this will have to do for now I hope you have had a great week and past weekend so far. If you haven’t the weekend is coming and you know what’s coming before the weekend… a fresh new day, tomorrow is another adventure in my life and in yours makes it worthwhile.

Before I close out today’s blog I want to suggest a movie/ documentary to everyone it’s called “I Am” directed & narrated by Tom Shadyac.¬†It’s a acceptance of death and meaning of living story from that the producer of Ace Venture, Patch Adams, Bruce All Mighty etc… What he talks about was/ is very touching to me and I think it would be to many others as well.

“Tomorrow’s just another day… ENJOY IT!”

Fix It Up

Not much to report… still waiting on my advisor to get back to me on my Business loan approval, which she thinks shouldn’t be an issue at all… and it’s the weekend so I won’t hear anything back for until our appointment on Tuesday.

It’s been a pretty calm weekend but it’s been raining a rather lot, enough that the fire ban was lifted. The land really needed the water everything was starting to turn brown and crispy.

I was supposed to work on the weekend for a promotional gig but the company is very bad at organizing things as I didn’t get any materials to work the whole weekend… I guess I’m only being paid for one day this weekend… hopefully they get things together for the following weekend… I could really use the money.

I was sitting outside with Brent and some of the other Hostel Neighbours and one of them that just moved in was getting rid of a rather nice table and offered it to me… I snagged that up right away; I’ve been trying to figure out a way to change the location on my computer for a while. This new table excited me to try some new things so I moved everything around. I created a living area, kitchen/ dinning area and… a dance floor spot haha. Now that I took some wasted space and turned it into a living room this place is way more cozy than before.

I’ve been hanging out with a really rad dude that lives here named Dayton… we have some pretty awesome conversations and one of the most recent ones was about¬†Bonsai¬†tree’s. I never realized Bonsai’s were just the art of taking care of the tree not a specific type. We’ve had some good conversations over the past week about them and how much fun it is to do (he has 4 or 5). The neat thing about Bonsai’s is you can take any tree and it adapts and becomes miniature as long as you keep trimming it. ¬†We’ve decided to scope out some tree’s and start making our own; this type of project is not for the faint of heart… it takes many, many, MANY years to develop a thick nice growing Bonsai. Here’s just a few that we’ve started for my own collection.

Life Friends

Just wanted to jump on here to let people know I’m super excited to go business approval hunting today, after a nice day at the beach and then some hang out time with the Hostel/ House mates yesterday. These guys are great fun to be around especially after one or two drinks.

I have to say one person I’ve been really missing lately is Emily Hime, I assisted her in running a Children’s Home in Haiti… Emily is kind of like a real-life super hero to me that just so happens to be one of my Bestest Friends ūüôā ¬†and I just wanted to share one of her YouTube songs with everyone.

Drive Changes

I feel so refreshed to say the least, I’ve been participating in yoga sessions on the front lawn of my place with an amazing instructor Satyama. Satyama comes by every so often offering by donation yoga instruction and she is an amazing teacher. The cool thing about this yoga is not only the benefits I’m receiving but how it brings everyone from the house together and even people from the holistic type community.

Other than yoga I’ve been doing a lot of different odd jobs to make some money but may have a handle on a job at The Mobile Shop.

Even bigger news I’m starting my own business! I had never seen myself as being an entrepreneur but when I got more interested in the work I plan on starting I felt this amazing¬†Drive,¬†the same drive I felt before I left for Haiti and before moving to Edmonton, Alberta and then British Columbia. This feeling of power and dedication is so positively overwhelming that it puts me in such a great mood and I feel so much ambition to succeed. The last few weeks when I wasn’t looking for work, I would spend countless hours in research for starting a business, improving the knowledge on the services I’ll be offering and acquiring grants or loans. The great news is, I’m done my business plan and all my other research, I have a registered business already I just need the funding so come Tuesday morning (tomorrow) I’m off to search for future success.

560501_10153206441790022_1020142738_n

I may have said it before but when you search for your Personal Legend¬†aka your passion in life even if you don’t know it yet the world will manifest itself to help you attain that goal. I find God has laid out the earth and the universe so perfectly that through him and his creations we are able to attain anything our true heart desires. With all of that being said I made a new friend a little bit back and he loved my idea and owns shop with a store front being opened up and he offered me a cheap place, how awesome!¬†Anyone interested in finding out what I plan on opening here’s the site (keep in mind it’s still in development). InnerPaths.wordpress.com (once I have the funding the site will be converted to Innerpaths.org). If anyone if interested in trying it out or booking appointments or just curious, feel free to comment here or message me on the website.

Inner Paths_BTACH

This blog is a little short but most of my adventures the past week or so have been yoga, meditation, longboarding… oh yeah, I went longboarding the other day and it was scorching hot like Haiti hot… crazy! And finally I spent the majority of my time on my business keep tuned in to see how my¬†Walk of Life¬†continues.

Here’s by far one of my favourite quotes, it’s probably not the first time I’ve posted it and probably not the last ^_^ enjoy, and don’t forget to smile.

Liquid Sunshine

The past week has been eventful despite not much going on; if that makes any sense to you :P? ¬†If find myself in mini adventures almost daily and tell me self the biggest lie… ‘I will remember this story; no need to write it down‘.

The Hostel-4

My “Tree House”

This town/ city is rather amazing. Vernon is considered a city, I finally found that out but it really does have a town feel because it’s so small and¬†cozy. I usually try to go longboarding everyday that it’s nice out, it keeps me in decent shape and it’s fun too so why not? The other day I kept heading down the hill to see where it would bring me and I have to say I was a little disappointed because the city got more and more industrial… as much as it can anyway. Despite it not being as beautiful as I expected it was still a phenomenal day to go boarding. Apparently if I went past where the sidewalk ended (which I was at)¬†I would have hit the Okanagan Lake… oh well. With all the exploring I’m doing (averaging 8-11 km a day) my wheels are starting to wear out as well as my bearings so if anyone is feeling generous I could use some ABEC11‘s or Orangatang IN HEAT‘s¬†(orange or purple) ^_^.

I started to fall behind on reading my book… that usually happens and then I usually never pick it up again, well guess what I’ve picked it up again and I’m just as excited to read it as before.¬†The Alchemist¬†is definitely a book I would recommend it has amazing words of wisdom and some good reminders on how to be happy in life.

I recently got back in contact with an old friend in-which we had a falling out which was a real shame but I think it needed to happen for both of our lives to expand. It’s so awesome because the beginning of a¬†new-old¬†relationship seems to be forming… ever so slowly which is fine by me, but I really did miss the connection we once had.

The other day I was at the horse farm hanging out with my friend which I was bringing to the airport for the following day at six AM. Before we had some dinner which usually is something super healthy and yummy; but I digress we had to bring in the horse from the¬†pastures in,¬†and the way we did this was with a 4-wheeler (modern-day herding). This was pretty crazy as I wasn’t even driving, I was just kind of along for the ride. First we brought in the beautiful mares (females) followed by the gelding (males) which was a little crazier because the ground was so uneven in their pasture.¬†I was holding on for dear life. while we were bringing in the horses the sun was setting in-between the mountains and what a sight that was stampeding horses, sunset and mountains!

Horses-1

So hard to take a picture we were flying!

I found it super fascinating how the horses didn’t kick or anything like that at the ATV, and no matter what direction we came at them they knew the right way back to their proper fencing. These horses are brilliant and I love hanging out with them, just the way they peer into your eyes and nuzzle you and make you all dirty even though you are wearing dress clothes. Such powerful beings; I love it.

I ended up driving my friend to the airport which was in Kelowna, I figured I was in the town anyway and it took me 45 mins to drive there why not explore… and get some Ingress gaming in… Portals baby!

I’ve been wanting to start painting I’m not sure if it’s because the¬†Hostel¬†has such artistic flows or what but I did manage to scrape together my first ever painting. Keep in mind I don’t usually do¬†“hand art”¬†I usually do well with photography or Photoshop etc… but here it is, I call it “HOW big ARE YOU?”

HbAR LR-5 HbAR LR-1HbAR LR-4 HbAR LR-3 HbAR LR-2

I added a few new things to it today, a star or two and a moon for earth. I’d love to know what other people think of my painting, feel free to comment about it, as well what do you think it’s about?

I’m still on a bit of a job hunt, going from the basic job and slowly finding better ones as I go. I had been talking to one of my¬†Hostel¬†mates/ neighbours from next door that works on a trawler for shrimp on the Okanagan and they just had their new guy quit. Shame for him very good possibility for me! A good word is being put in for me and hopefully I find out before my next blog.

To close off this blog I’ll talk about my beautiful day or some part of it anyway. I had just made a sandwich and A√ßa√≠¬†tea (the tea is so good and non¬†caffeinated)¬†I walked out side for fresh air when I was hit by¬†liquid sunshine .¬†What I mean by liquid sunshine is that the sky was super blue and the sun was blaring while little drops of rain drizzled down from the vast sky :). If you’re wondering where I came up with the term “Liquid Sunshine”¬†no it wasn’t my genius contemplation, I learned it while in the military from a Sergeant of mine… feel free to use it!

Finally my last story that I can remember and that happened today, my Hostel neighbour called me over with excitement, and around the corner there were three deer munching on our Grape vines! There were two babies and Mama, we let them snack for a bit then “shoo’ed” them off so they didn’t eat them all. They were all pretty thin which was kind of sad ūüė¶ but they did get to eat a bunch and I hope they LOVED IT!

Not sure if I wrote about this in the last blog but since showering is next to impossible I’ve decided I’m dedicating time each day for “Bath time” it seems corny but it’s an awesome type of meditation and personal time… try it out. Anyway bath time ciao!

Chasing the Sun n’ Moon

where to even begin… there has been so much going on lately and I wish I had been able to write about it and share the things I’ve been experiencing as they’ve come. I’m going to give you a quick filler on what has happened in the past few weeks.

I had moved to Edmonton and started to work right away eventually I moved onto another job which was a lot of fun and great learning. I began working at Donorworx/ World Vision which was a super tough job that’s for sure; no one goes to the mall to sponsor a child but we still have to pull them in and excite them and let people know how much help is actually needed in the world… at the very least just educate :).

Edmonton was a great start for me in a means of independence and integrating back into “first world”¬†since Haiti.¬†I’ve been on a continuing path of learning and it’s amazing to say the least. Thanks to my friend Candace I was able to meet some new people pretty much the same day I arrived in town. I’m not one to normally¬†go out but I know it’s a crucial part in discovering new things and finding new adventures. That night I ended up meeting some great people who I’ve since become pretty close with. I was able to meet some great people from Wold Vision and develop some great friends there as well.

My longboarding continues to get better every time I hit the pavement (with the board not my body).¬†One of the best times of the last month was attending Motion Notion just outside of Golden BC, this would also be my first time in BC. The drive to MoNo was about a five-hour drive but the scenery on the way made it feel substantially less… it helped to have great company too! Once we arrived to MoNo we had to find a place to set up, we changed our minds about 3 times and had to run to the entrance at the top of the hill to change the sign we had written for our other friends coming to camp with us.

The spot we found ended up being perfect with the Mountains on one side and nothing but huge green tree’s on the other. At night our site was just the perfect distance that all the music from the stages became ambient music and peaceful to help you relax/sleep.

Most people know I’m all about new experiences and that I usually feel the need to try something to say I’ve done it and also not regret not doing it; there was a nice little river that was glacier fed… I knew it was going to be cold but when I jumped it in was¬†COLD!¬†The jump was totally worth it despite feeling like there was ice-cubes around me, and I had a hard time getting out because of the slippery clay… Totally worth the experience.¬†

Later in the night we finally got all our glow sticks going, and off most of us went to enjoy the festivities. I dilly dawdled a bit trying to put just the right gear together. There were some amazing things going on at night from the hoopers to the Fire shows all the way to the fantastic music playing.

Going to a small festival like MoNo was super neat and I was able to get a new perspective on things compared to Electric Forest which usually brings in around 30,000 people compared to MoNo’s 4-6 thousand. I want to thank all my friends from MoNo and the new people I met, I know our friendships will be that much stronger because of that weekend, you’re all great people! Aaron, Kandi, Lance, Leanne, Heather, Kalan, Arianna… everyone. ^_^

Since I started attending festivals a few years ago they have really been a big part of my life and meeting amazing people and just learning how to go back to living free even if it’s just for a weekend.

I‘ve began reading a book, and I don’t normally read books but just felt I needed one and I happened to stumble across an amazing book called¬†The Alchemist.¬†I’ve had a few friends super excited about me reading this book, at first I really didn’t get it… now I do. This book has been so fitting into my life especially recently. I’ve been moving in the direction life is pushing me <3.

Most recently I have moved out to Vernon, BC which was a nice 8 hour drive from Edmonton… it was such a nice drive though, minus the¬†suburbia¬†part of Calgary, there’s just way to many houses that look the same and have taken up so much of the natural it’s a little sad, but other than that the mountains are sensational!

Because my awesome new friends threw my an amazing going away party I didn’t get to leave for Vernon until the afternoon the next day… that’s okay because I ended up staying with Arianna for the night at the Ranch/ Farm¬†she works at¬†in Coldstream just outside of Vernon. Waking up and getting to meet the horses and walk with them was so exciting… with plenty more to be had!

My new place in Vernon is absolutely unreal, the atmosphere is pretty much perfect for me and my continued evolution of character. The place where I’m staying is a retired hostel converted into renting suites. My suite is actually detached from the house above a storage garage, it’s super cozy.

I’ve been integrating into the mini community here at the¬†Hostel¬†really well… the people are just great. Yesterday we went to the beach just because everyone had the day off, it was really nice to get away and not think about much. I’ve been doing a decent amount of longboarding here in Vernon but it’s a little tough going down some hills because they are pretty steep and I have yet to learn hard breaking.

I want to thank everyone for their patients and my blog writing or lack there of, I actually plan on writing a lot more often now that I have a proper computer set up… which means my book should be done¬†soonish¬†I’m aiming towards the New Year.

Vernon and the¬†Hostel¬†as I’ve decided to start calling it is going to a great opening for me to really find my centre, get back to my meditation, seeking God, and many other enlightening opportunities.

I’ve decided to start making bracelets and maybe expanding into wire wrapping for a hobby other than writing so if anyone have any suggestions for me to practice feel free to let me know!

Steady Visit

I don’t expect this blog post to be too long… but that’s what I usually expect.

I’ve being doing pretty well getting back to “normal” life back in Canada, I’m not going to lie though I still feel like I’m visiting. I’m starting to make future plans on what I’m going to do down the road, of course going back to Haiti is in the plans and I think it always will be but not immediately.

942241_10152844831660022_1737772500_n

I’ve come to realize my next adventure won’t be for a while, I’m still looking for work and have had a few hopeful situations but they wouldn’t start until later in the summer and may require travel… hmm did I just say travel I think I like that word! Anyway I’ll indulge you into some of my future plans and this is all in the works no concrete plans; I find if you set specific dates… this is for most people not all, but if you set specific dates for life goals you tend to bring yourself down and stress out too much when the time comes closer and closer so I’m being very liberal and understanding that it will take a few years to get my jet off the ground… unless I land it rich or someone wants to give me lots and lots of money… I prefer the latter :P.

My original plan was to save up for a visit to ex-Siam… Thailand :), I’ve always been fascinated by their culture and their way of life and I’d want to be visiting none touristy area’s. After doing much research and talking to many people who’ve been there it is rather cheap to live there day by day close to $14 USD for full meals and lodging. As most of my plans are like a living being it’s ever evolving, originally I had decided after Thailand I would purchase a house and rent it out. Now I’m planning on getting a house first then travelling to Thailand once I get the landlord thing down and eventually breaking even or even making a bit of a profit. The idea for this is if I start travelling more I don’t want to come home and have to work for 2 years then go travel and work for 2 year again… it seems like such a waste, I’d rather take the extra time to secure myself and then live “freely” before I settle down.

I finally got my iMac back up and running but ran into an issue when I went to Bootcamp it to run Windows now it will only run that… guess I have to bring it in for another fixin’ but at least I know everything is backed up!

I’ve been thinking lately about changing the name of my blog since I won’t be working specifically on Haiti especially in my blogs, more so about my life and travels. I’ll still have my Facebook Page for Haiti but I feel like I need a name change on the blog and was wondering what everyone else thought? I may start-up a poll with some names, if you guys have any idea’s feel free to comment new names or email me at Justinparkinson@hotmail.com

name

Recently I went to DEMF which this year was named Movement Electronic Music Festival… MEMF not as easy to say as the old name but change is bound to happen! It was fun despite all the rain and cold, but I have to say I’m not a huge fan of the Urban Festivals, it draws a lot of “not fun” crowds. I much prefer Big fests like Electric Forest or Feel Good, Waka etc… it’s more of a family/ Hippie group, everyone loves one another and will take care of you if you need it… even being a stranger.

Hippie-Psychedelic

Anyway I just wanted to shoot this off real quick to update everyone yes I’m still in Canada I didn’t jet off to Haiti again… Yet haha just kidding. I’ve got to get back to writing my  book. Don’t forget to think of names for my blog and make suggestions!
