There’s a Time for Everything

I’ve been itching to write this blog post for a few days but one thing after another has happened, in a good way :). I’ve smartened up a bit and started to write everything down on one of my dry erase boards so I can remember more content for you guys to catch up on.

Isn’t the green and black awesome?

On and off I think about this one question when ever I think about my blog… ‘do I really want people to read about my entire life?’ When it comes down to it I guess I now look at it more of an outlook of expression; I don’t expect people to read my blog but if they do awesome, if they learn something even better… if no one reads it I just get to re-experience what I did earlier in the week or month and even one day dwell back on it. I kind of look at it in a sense where if you’re grieving or dealing with “drama” expressing it to a friend or trusted person helps (immensely), stress drops and you feel that little bit better and sometimes feel completely better. If negatives can shed away through expressing, the good might just remind you of the good times and just make you that much happier.

I’ve been discussing with a few friends recently that I don’t regret anything I’ve done… even the dumb stuff for if I hadn’t done it I wouldn’t be in the exact place I am today, the consequences (good or bad) have made me who I am today. Think of it this way: you can’t go back and change anything, just go from where you are… This is such a cliché term but it stuck for a reason “Live in the now”.

Now for the updates:

I purchased some perogies which I haven’t had in ages and that I love so much and they remind me of an amazing friend (Natalie… Miss you!). Here’s the dilemma I was facing though. I didn’t have sour cream, actually let’s back up a second I actually wanted to make pancakes but had no milk and didn’t want to go to the store so I said ‘hey I have perogies!’ and that’s where I ran into the sour cream issue. I was so hungry and was too lazy to go to the groceries store but I used the excuse I needed to save gas haha. I got my thinking cap out and figured let’s try Dijon Mustard, well it worked despite being a little spicy it was worth the substitute until I got SC the next day. (apparently my browser says perogies is spelt wrong but the package says that’s the correct way, and not as the computer suggests “perigees”… *right-click, add to dictionary* haha)

Here’s some big new… I finally got the job at The Mobile Shop woohoo. Training has been going well apparently I learn quickly although I did used to work for WIND Mobile just not for sales. The people I work with are pretty darn awesome and the hours are good, so’s the commission. Soh if anyone is looking for a new phone anywhere in Canada let me know I’ll hook you up with the right deal and plan; bonus you supply me with commission and make me happy.

I recently registered my business website with an official link instead of just a sub-domain so now I’m “official” (www.innerpaths.ca). Once I bring in some more cash from work and pay off some bills I’ll be registering my blog as well maybe along the lines of http://www.WalkofLife.ca … thoughts?

One of my Hostel-mates asked if I could help him clear up some space on his Macbook and make it run faster, so it lit a fire under my butt to do some cleaning on my own and I was able to clear wait for it… 200 Gigs of duplicate songs; Holy moly. I guess that’s 4 years of accumulated songs, now I have so much more room for movies and music. As for Brent’s Mac he has to upgrade his OS (operating system) before I can fix anything in-depth, he’s running a very old version, for all you Window’s users it’s like he’s using Windows XP that hasn’t been cleaned in years.

The other night John and Tabitha (former Hostel-Mates) stopped by for a bonfire with Rye and Brent and myself… it was a good gathering as usual we got a little rowdy but nothing too out of control of course. It’s good to have these little reunions, it’s really brings back memories.

Recently I was able to Skype with two awesome people one of them being Maeve my fav. Irish celeb from Haiti, boy do I miss her and her antics it was nice to catch up with a good friend and talk about our futures (remember when you tried to shove a Teddy in my arms while I was sleep and take a picture… not impressed  -_- love ya ). The other person was Lola who is one of my most favouritest people in the world. There’s just something about my gipsy friend I love so much, she’s so bubbly and awesome. We’ve kinda of decided that our Skype “dates” need to happen more often.

Lola you are one amazing Human being… Keep it up ❤

She introduced me to Festivals and I cannot thank her enough for the adventurous path I’ve been set on since.

This past weekend was Canadian Thanksgiving which I spent “alone” this year, which is fine since most holidays to me I just consider another day on the calendar. As usual my neighbours Brent and Rye manage to be awesome and gave me a bunch of their great dinner of: Turkey, stuffing, carrots, yams, cranberries etc… I don’t have a microwave which is good, it keeps me from buying those microwave dinners of death. I tossed the leftovers into a frying pan with butter and a cover, turned the stove on low heat and within a few minutes Voila I had a warmed up meal!

A good friend of mine held on to a wicked cool crystal I ordered while I was in Haiti. I got it back recently and couldn’t think of a better person to have held it for me (thanks Christina 😉 ). Originally it was on a bracelet she had made me but it wasn’t really practical (I was the one who asked to have it on the bracelet), so I kept the bracelet which is rad by the way. Dayton one of my Hostel-mates does wire wrapping and I had him wrap it, and it came out pretty cool… thanks Dayton.

Green Kyanite

So the other day I had to wake up early for work and what did I see on the grass… FROST! I am so not looking forward to the cold, don’t forget I spent the winter in Haiti last year and this cold is really killin’ me haha. Later in the day I had collected some chestnuts from the yard since our massive tree drops at least 20 a day, later I decided to try and roast a few… Well they didn’t taste very good. Maybe I didn’t roast them right but I followed all the instructions and video’s online and it looked correct, oh well I guess my pallet isn’t compatible. (oh yeah one exploded in the oven because I didn’t X it big enough)

They do make a good centre piece though ^_^

Almost done this blog I swear thanks for the patients. I think this is some of the biggest news other than the job… I got a bed, a real one yes! I’ve been sleeping on a futon for 3 months with an already bad back from the army and two car accidents (not at fault). It is like heaven, I honestly rolled around on it giggling for a good ten minutes… Life is grand :).

My back “I love you bed”

Overall life is fantastic as I just stated, things are going great and I can’t help but yell how happy I am most days… in the confines of my Studio Suite or my car. Oh yeah I’ve also started talking to a girl no details yet because it’s not super serious but it’s looking good.

I took a bit of a break from writing this post to hang out with the Hostel-mates  and sure enough Brent offers me some leftover stew from Thanksgiving (Their pot was massive and filled). I brought a bunch home and some of it was my snack tonight. As a few of us were chatting earlier I also noticed how thankful I was for things and people in the blog today…  maybe I just caught everyone’s thankfulness from Facebook or just from the season, but Thanks every everyone for being a part of my life it’s really made who I am one way or another.

They had 3 times as much as this.

Chasing the Sun n’ Moon

where to even begin… there has been so much going on lately and I wish I had been able to write about it and share the things I’ve been experiencing as they’ve come. I’m going to give you a quick filler on what has happened in the past few weeks.

I had moved to Edmonton and started to work right away eventually I moved onto another job which was a lot of fun and great learning. I began working at Donorworx/ World Vision which was a super tough job that’s for sure; no one goes to the mall to sponsor a child but we still have to pull them in and excite them and let people know how much help is actually needed in the world… at the very least just educate :).

Edmonton was a great start for me in a means of independence and integrating back into “first world” since Haiti. I’ve been on a continuing path of learning and it’s amazing to say the least. Thanks to my friend Candace I was able to meet some new people pretty much the same day I arrived in town. I’m not one to normally go out but I know it’s a crucial part in discovering new things and finding new adventures. That night I ended up meeting some great people who I’ve since become pretty close with. I was able to meet some great people from Wold Vision and develop some great friends there as well.

My longboarding continues to get better every time I hit the pavement (with the board not my body). One of the best times of the last month was attending Motion Notion just outside of Golden BC, this would also be my first time in BC. The drive to MoNo was about a five-hour drive but the scenery on the way made it feel substantially less… it helped to have great company too! Once we arrived to MoNo we had to find a place to set up, we changed our minds about 3 times and had to run to the entrance at the top of the hill to change the sign we had written for our other friends coming to camp with us.

The spot we found ended up being perfect with the Mountains on one side and nothing but huge green tree’s on the other. At night our site was just the perfect distance that all the music from the stages became ambient music and peaceful to help you relax/sleep.

Most people know I’m all about new experiences and that I usually feel the need to try something to say I’ve done it and also not regret not doing it; there was a nice little river that was glacier fed… I knew it was going to be cold but when I jumped it in was COLD! The jump was totally worth it despite feeling like there was ice-cubes around me, and I had a hard time getting out because of the slippery clay… Totally worth the experience.

Later in the night we finally got all our glow sticks going, and off most of us went to enjoy the festivities. I dilly dawdled a bit trying to put just the right gear together. There were some amazing things going on at night from the hoopers to the Fire shows all the way to the fantastic music playing.

Going to a small festival like MoNo was super neat and I was able to get a new perspective on things compared to Electric Forest which usually brings in around 30,000 people compared to MoNo’s 4-6 thousand. I want to thank all my friends from MoNo and the new people I met, I know our friendships will be that much stronger because of that weekend, you’re all great people! Aaron, Kandi, Lance, Leanne, Heather, Kalan, Arianna… everyone. ^_^

Since I started attending festivals a few years ago they have really been a big part of my life and meeting amazing people and just learning how to go back to living free even if it’s just for a weekend.

I‘ve began reading a book, and I don’t normally read books but just felt I needed one and I happened to stumble across an amazing book called The Alchemist. I’ve had a few friends super excited about me reading this book, at first I really didn’t get it… now I do. This book has been so fitting into my life especially recently. I’ve been moving in the direction life is pushing me <3.

Most recently I have moved out to Vernon, BC which was a nice 8 hour drive from Edmonton… it was such a nice drive though, minus the suburbia part of Calgary, there’s just way to many houses that look the same and have taken up so much of the natural it’s a little sad, but other than that the mountains are sensational!

Because my awesome new friends threw my an amazing going away party I didn’t get to leave for Vernon until the afternoon the next day… that’s okay because I ended up staying with Arianna for the night at the Ranch/ Farm she works at in Coldstream just outside of Vernon. Waking up and getting to meet the horses and walk with them was so exciting… with plenty more to be had!

My new place in Vernon is absolutely unreal, the atmosphere is pretty much perfect for me and my continued evolution of character. The place where I’m staying is a retired hostel converted into renting suites. My suite is actually detached from the house above a storage garage, it’s super cozy.

I’ve been integrating into the mini community here at the Hostel really well… the people are just great. Yesterday we went to the beach just because everyone had the day off, it was really nice to get away and not think about much. I’ve been doing a decent amount of longboarding here in Vernon but it’s a little tough going down some hills because they are pretty steep and I have yet to learn hard breaking.

I want to thank everyone for their patients and my blog writing or lack there of, I actually plan on writing a lot more often now that I have a proper computer set up… which means my book should be done soonish I’m aiming towards the New Year.

Vernon and the Hostel as I’ve decided to start calling it is going to a great opening for me to really find my centre, get back to my meditation, seeking God, and many other enlightening opportunities.

I’ve decided to start making bracelets and maybe expanding into wire wrapping for a hobby other than writing so if anyone have any suggestions for me to practice feel free to let me know!
